Alamanda commonly seen in Okinawa at this time of year
Among Taion's textiles, this pattern combines a mature atmosphere with a tropical image.
I started working on this textile around spring of 2017.
I wanted to create a pattern for the Taion lineup that would give people a sense of the tropical atmosphere of Okinawa.
Just then, my eye fell on the Allamanda blooming on the porch of my house.
This flower is common in Okinawa, and if you look closely you can see it blooming everywhere - on the walls of highways, under the eaves of private homes, in parks, and everywhere else - making it a part of everyday life.
I tried to faithfully recreate the atmosphere of this Allamanda flower without distorting it.
The thickness of the petals, the color, the direction the flower is facing,
